Sorry cannot be of more help but at least those are some options open to you. ![]() If that still does not make sense to you, then perhaps (as Epson were inclined to do, unfortunately) you may well have to just perform the scan (as a transparency as I mentioned) then Invert in your photo editing programme to get a positive and then look to adjust the colour balance slightly if the result is not as you would prefer. If you are unable to discover that area, then always work in the Pro/Advanced mode (not AUTO) and do a Preview first, then look at the shown result and perhaps make slight adjustments before you scan. I don't know your actual model but on my sightly older Epson scanner, when it is, in effect, doing its fairly quick prescan setup, there is a small band area where it does that and it would be there the clear film should be placed. If scanning colour negs, using a piece of "clear" film (with the orange-type colour base) in the setup area for the scanner (the initial bit where it sets itsaelf up for each and every scan) can produce superior results. Reason is you will generally find you get better results if you scan the negatives "as are" and then do the Invert to get a positive using the facility in such as PhotoShop. Secondly, if scanning negatives, do not select that in the scanning dialogue box (and select the Advanced Pro setup for operating the scanner!) but rather select Transparencies as the media. If you scan with the emulsion facing down, the image will be reversed left to right, so do remember to take that into account! Regardless of wet or dry mounting, have the emulsion facing down. I'm still unclear what you mean in your last paragraph though, about using the clear film in the setup area. ![]()
